Reclaiming the Waves

For the last three Saturdays I have been working with an amazing group of people at Tate Britain who share two things in common they all live in London and are over 65 bar one.  Jim and I were delighted to be approached by Tate Community Learning to run a series of Radio Arts workshops and make a new participatory radio work about London, the city where I lived for 22 years, its been emotional as we have shared our stories and memories,  just a sliver of these fascinating accounts will be heard in the final work, of life times spent in London of bomb sites, squats, planes, trains, pubs, empty homes, the Thames, buses, fires have been a delight to hear as the group learned from scratch how to record, edit and quickly bonded by making fm transmitters. Together we have produced a two channel spatialised work using some of my radio collection, its been a steep learning curve for the group but we pulled it off and the openings on March 27th and the work will be on display in the Tate Learning Gallery for several weeks.
