‘Whose laughing Now’ aka Brexit Bags will be at #NOWdigital festival Oct 18th -27th at Woolworths Margate as part of the Margate Now events.
Laughing sacks are an uncanny items sold in seaside towns across the UK, and for me the perfect small audio device to subvert and to reinvent, as kind of playful homage, the pain of Brexit and our hopes for the future. The Lachsack (“Laugh in a Bag”) was invented by German Walter Thiele (born 1921) his first version was in a sock as a joke, he made millions selling them. The original ones unlike the synthetic ones today were Jute sacks. Brexit Bags are made of ethically sourced linen sacks handmade for me by Vicky Putler.
